Gamificação na educação: elementos de design, mecanismos motivacionais e efeitos sobre a aprendizagem em uma revisão de literatura

Resumo

Introdução: A gamificação transfere elementos selecionados do design de jogos para contextos não lúdicos e se tornou uma estratégia recorrente na educação. Sua expansão foi acompanhada por resultados heterogêneos, pois o mesmo elemento pode apoiar a aprendizagem, atuar apenas como incentivo externo ou gerar competição e desengajamento, conforme o desenho e o contexto. Objetivo: Analisar os elementos de design de jogos mais utilizados na educação, os mecanismos motivacionais por meio dos quais operam e seus efeitos sobre engajamento, motivação, comportamento e desempenho acadêmico. Metodologia: Realizou-se uma revisão narrativa qualitativa da literatura. A análise teve como ponto de partida o capítulo de Nah et al. (2014) e foi atualizada com estudos conceituais, empíricos, revisões sistemáticas e metanálises publicados entre 2011 e 2023. Foram incluídas publicações que abordaram explicitamente gamificação em contextos educacionais ou de aprendizagem e examinaram elementos, mecanismos ou resultados dos estudantes. Excluíram-se trabalhos dedicados exclusivamente a jogos educacionais completos. Resultados: Pontos, medalhas, níveis, rankings, indicadores de progresso, desafios, narrativa, feedback, recompensas e interação social foram os recursos mais recorrentes. As metanálises indicam efeitos médios positivos em resultados cognitivos, motivacionais e comportamentais, mas com heterogeneidade substancial. Estudos experimentais e longitudinais mostram que os efeitos dependem do alinhamento entre objetivos instrucionais, características dos estudantes, necessidades psicológicas, duração da intervenção e configuração social. Rankings competitivos e desenhos centrados em recompensas podem reduzir a motivação intrínseca ou gerar ansiedade quando são obrigatórios ou percebidos como injustos. Conclusão: A gamificação não constitui um método instrucional eficaz por si só. Seu valor educacional emerge quando os elementos tornam metas visíveis, oferecem feedback informativo, apoiam autonomia e competência, promovem interação significativa e permanecem subordinados ao currículo. Desenho baseado em evidências, acessibilidade, uso ético de dados e avaliação contínua são essenciais para uma implementação sustentável.
